Guidelines for Employment as a Per Diem Test Corrector/Per Diem Retiree
Please be aware that the Per Diem Retiree and Per Diem Test Corrector positions are solely reserved for employees that retired from the Rochester City School District. All other candidates are encouraged to follow the Guidelines for Employment as a Per Diem Teacher.
Former RCSD employees interested in becoming a Per Diem Test Corrector must receive authorization from the Office of Accountability to be added to the Per Diem Test Corrector Roster. Written verification can be emailed to SMD@rcsdk12.org. Per Diem Test Corrector will not receive calls from the Substitute Management System (SmartFindExpress) but can be preassigned to assignments at the schools' request.
Former RCSD employees interested in becoming Per Diem Retirees may elect to work at a specified school or a variety of schools in a multitude of subject areas based on interest and skill level. Per Diem Retirees receive Districtwide assignments from the Substitute Management System (SmartFindExpress), can proactively seek assignments, or can be preassigned at specified schools upon request.
Terms and conditions are consistent with those found in the Contractual Agreement Between The City School District of Rochester and the Per Diem Substitute Teachers Unit of the Rochester Teachers Association with the following exceptions:
- Per Diem Test Correctors and Per Diem Retirees will be paid Step 3: $215.00 per day
- Per Diem Test Correctors and Per Diem Retirees are not eligible for Medical or Dental Benefits other than those provided under their original retirement agreement.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Under the general supervision of building principals, assistant principals and/or their designees, and in as efficiently, safely and complete a manner as possible, the Per Diem Teacher provides continuity of quality instruction to RCSD students during the absence of the regular teacher.
- Adheres to all RCSD policies and procedures to which regular teachers are subjected, as well as those outlined in the handbook and the current contractual agreement between the City School District of Rochester and the Per Diem Substitute Unit of the Rochester Teachers Association.
- Follows, as completely as possible, established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which assigned and establishes and attempts to achieve classroom goals and objectives developed by the absent teacher.
- Assumes responsibility for maintaining classroom discipline, not only while delivering curriculum, but also during lunch and recess periods when needed. Informs the absent teacher (via written communication) of classroom activities, i.e. work completed, homework assigned, any problems which occurred and methods used to solve them. Performs other related duties as assigned by school building administrators.
INITIAL PER DIEM TEST CORRECTOR RATE:
$215.00 per day
