Board Advisors

  • The Rochester Board of Education is a seven-member board elected by the citizens of the City of Rochester to direct and oversee the school district's operations. 

    The Board recognizes the role that parents and students play in our school communities and requests that parents and students play an active part in the fiscal oversight and accountability functions of the Board.

    The Board permits one parent advisor and one student advisor for the monthly Board work session.

Who can serve?

  • Interested Parents: Only parents and legal guardians of students currently attending the Rochester City School District who are not employees of the Rochester City School District will be allowed to serve. 

    Interested Students: Only students currently attending a Rochester City School District school, in grades 8th through 12th, having good academic standing, and on track to graduate will be allowed to serve.

    No one may serve on a monthly Board work session who has a personal financial interest in the work of the Rochester Board of Education and/or Rochester City School District.

How to Apply

Selection Process

  • Parent and Student Advisors will be selected by the Board to serve on the monthly work session for no more than a two-year term (July 1st through June 30th). Membership in a parent or student stakeholder organization is not required to participate in the selection process.

    1. Application Forms will be reviewed by the Board;
    2. The Board will make the final selection and appointment of the Advisor via Board resolution;
    3. Appointed Advisors will be notified of selection by letter and email; and
    4. The names of Advisors will be posted on the District website.
