Francis Parker is one of the most diverse schools in Monroe County and remains a top performing elementary school in the Rochester City School District. Through our WIN (What I Need) blocks, all students receive small group instruction tailored to support and enrich their academic success. Our school is committed to implementing a student-centered instructional approach where students acquire deeper knowledge through active exploration of real-world challenges and problems. Our school's proximity to many artistic and business venues has helped us build partnerships that support our academic and social-emotional goals through field trips to the Memorial Art Gallery, Strong Museum, MCC Optics Laboratory, Writers and Books, and Rochester Museum and Science Center, and many more. Acceleration Programs - We embed accelerated learning opportunities at every grade level.  Through the use of on-site enrichment groups, our students are exposed to rigorous and engaging tasks in core content areas every day. Additional accelerated learning opportunities include STEM enrichment, a partnership with the University of Rochester Medical Center, Mathematics Regents preparation, and tailored acceleration during our WIN (What I Need) Block.

Francis Parker House System - Students and staff are randomly sorted into 1 of 4 multi-age/grade Houses when they first arrive at our school. They remain in that House throughout their time at Francis Parker School No. 23. In a House, students are able to interact with peers from other grade levels through a variety of cross-grade level activities, such as kickball tournaments, dance contests, and a variety of other team-building activities. With this, the older students become mentors to younger students— and they in turn grow as leaders themselves. This creates a positive climate and culture of belonging for students and staff. It also helps to build character, relationships, and school spirit. Points are collected throughout the year for each student, which counts toward their overall House’s score. Students can earn points for their house through displays of citizenship. The House with the highest amount of points at the end of the year wins the House Cup!

Strong and Active PTA - The School No. 23 PTA meets monthly and is heavily engaged in all school events and fundraising.
