Immunization Requirements for the 2023-2024 School Year

  • Now is the time to make sure your child has all of their required immunization shots for school this year.  Failure to do so could potentially expose them to illness and result in their being kept out of school, which can then result in missed work time for parents. Your child's doctor is the best place to get vaccinated but there are also many immunization clinics throughout the Rochester community.  If you cannot get an appointment at your doctor or if they don't have the vaccinations your child needs, please call the Monroe County Health Department at (585) 753-5150 to schedule a appointment.

If you are unsure if your child meets these requirements, please consult the 2023-2024 State School Vaccine Requirement Chart and reach out to your child's primary care physician.  Students who do not meet the requirements may face exclusion.

NYSDOH regulations now follow the Advisory Committee for Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommended immunization guidelines for those immunizations required by Public Health Law 2164. ACIP is composed of medical and public health experts who develop recommendations on how to use vaccines to control diseases in the US, and they are responsible for making vaccine recommendations to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
