2021-22 Learning Choice: Select the Remote Option

  • Beginning September 8, 2021, the Rochester City School District will return to school five days a week for in-person learning. We will offer a 100% remote learning option.

    If you are choosing the REMOTE option, you can call your school to let them know or choose online via the PowerSchool Parent Portal. Full instructions on how to setup an account and download the portal app are below.

    While we encourage parents to download and utilize the PowerSchool Parent Portal Mobile app, please note that this option is only viewable in the web browser version of PowerSchool Parent Portal at this time.

    By making this decision, you are committing to have your children learn remotely for the first semester of school, which ends on Friday, January 28, 2022. Families who want their children to take part in 100% remote learning must respond by Friday, May 7, 2021. If we do not hear from you by May 7, your children will automatically be enrolled as in-person students.

    PowerSchool Parent Portal gives parents and students direct access to grades, schedule, and attendance for rcsd students. 

    An access code for each student is required. If you need a code for a child in your household, please contact your child's school or the Office of Parent Engagement at 585-324-9999.

    1. Create an account online.
      You will need to create an account using a web browser, such as Google Chrome or Firefox. Create an account under Parent Account Details. You will need to enter your email address and create a user name and password. Write down your user name and password because you will need it to log in every time you access the PowerSchool Parent Portal.

    2. Enter your student(s) access ID and password.
      Next, you will enter your student's information under Link Students to Account. You will need the
      Access ID and Access Password on the letter mailed home.
      Please note that each student has his or her own unique Access ID and Access Password. If you have multiple children, each student's Access ID and Access Password will be sent in a separate letter. Additional students may be added to your account, so you do not have to create separate accounts.

    3. Download the app and login.
      After these steps are completed, you can download the PowerSchool Mobile app via the Apple App Store or Google Play, depending on your mobile device. Once you download the app, you will need to enter the District code also located in the letter.

  • Parents/Legal Guardians

    Please note that RCSDlink has been discontinued. Families can now access your children’s grades, assignments and other student-specific information in real-time through the PowerSchool Portal.

    In August, all District custodial parents and guardians will receive a letter mailed to your home address with a special password for the PowerSchool Portal. That password will give you access to your student’s information via the website and mobile app. If you did not receive a letter at home, please contact our OPE helpdesk for access at 585-324-9999 or by emailing parentcenter@rcsdk12.org. District high school students will also have access to the POwerSchool Portal and will receive an email to their rcsd121.org Gmail account with their username and password.

    Parent Designees
    An approval is required from our legal department for non-parent/guardian accounts. Please note the school must have you listed as a contact prior to your request.

    Student Access

    Student do not need to request an account; student accounts are automatically created and login information is sent directly to student rcsd121.org gmail accounts. For instructions on how to access rcsd121.org gmail accounts, students can check with their classroom teacher or school librarian.
