Students, teachers, non-teaching staff and parents are once again invited to take part in the School Climate Survey through the months of March and April 2020. The School Climate Survey plays a key role in our school improvement process in the Rochester City School District. Data gathered from this survey will directly impact how each school develops their School Improvement Plan to best meet the social, emotional, and academic needs of our students. The survey is administered nation wide, per the US Department of Education, and is it used to gather information for districts to calculate a School Climate Index. This index is used to hold educational organizations accountable to school conditions for student learning. Data generated by the School Climate Index will help NYSED and RCSD to maximize all students’ learning, especially for traditionally marginalized youth through activities, policies, and strategies that reduce bullying, harassment, and the overuse of punitive and exclusionary responses to student misbehavior.
