(May 3, 2024) A student-athlete from World of Inquiry School No. 58 is the proud recipient of a scholarship from Bob Johnson Automotive Group and Primetime 585.
Anthony Diaz, a senior and three-sport athlete in football, indoor track, and outdoor track received the scholarship at World of Inquiry on Friday, May 3, 2024. Primetime 585’s Karen Iglesia and Bob Johnson Automotive Group’s Ian Love presented Diaz with a $500 check. He is being rewarded for his character off the field.
This past fall, Anthony was honored with an All-Greater Rochester recognition as selected by the Democrat and Chronicle. An East Upper School varsity football team member, his key accomplishment was getting fifth all-time in career receiving yards.
“I am a great athlete, but also a great person who tries to help the community on and off the field,” said Diaz. Diaz is involved in a senior capstone project at World of Inquiry where he has decided to host a football camp, one of the reasons why he was considered for this scholarship.
“I thought about having a sports camp to give back to the community,” said Diaz. “It’s free and this is just one stepping stone to something bigger in life, and I hope this positively impacts the Rochester community.”
Diaz, attending West Point on a football scholarship in the fall, will host his football camp on Saturday, May 11 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. for children ages 10 – 13, at World of Inquiry School No. 58 on University Avenue.
