Summer of Discovery: Highlighting RCSD Staff

(August 5, 2022) To celebrate the RCSD’s Summer of Discovery, the District is highlighting staff members who support our summer learning programming.

Ms. Anna Madrid is the summer school principal for the Summer Language Academy at Anna Murray-Douglass Academy School No. 12. A Community Site Coordinator at Henry Hudson School No. 28, Ms. Madrid is overseeing 60 students in grades 6 – 12 who speak seven different languages and ranging in different levels of English proficiency.

“I have an excellent staff of ENL and bilingual certified teachers from various schools in the District with many years of experience in teaching English as a New Language,” said Madrid. “Students are learning language by studying geology, they participate in hands-on experiments and projects, and they have participated in two field trips connected to our unit of study along with reading and writing.”

A proud graduate of the Rochester City School District, Ms. Madrid started working at John James Audubon School No. 33 as a bilingual teacher in 2008 and has also been a bilingual teacher at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. School No. 9.
