Summer of Discovery: Highlighting RCSD Staff

(July 20, 2022) To celebrate the RCSD’s Summer of Discovery, the District is highlighting staff members who support our summer learning programming.

Mr. Rob Burns is the summer school Principal for John Walton Spencer School No. 16’s Summer Quest Program. An Assistant Principal at School No. 16 since October of 2021, Mr. Burns is overseeing 120 students who are enrolled in the Summer Quest Program.

“We are offering additional opportunities for our scholars to maximize their interests in learning this summer,” said Burns.  “We are fortunate to have partners like Breaking All Barriers, LLC who are providing our students enrichment programs such as African Drumming, yoga, culinary, drama and theater, music, art, ASL, and Spanish classes.”

Mr. Burns has been an educator for 19 years.  He started in the RCSD as a 5th grade teacher at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. School No. 9 and has been an Expanded Learning Coordinator, has served as Acting Director of Expanded Learning, Community Site Coordinator, and Assistant Principal.

Please join us in applauding Mr. Burns for his efforts to help RCSD scholars succeed!
