RCSD Hosts Digital Citizenship Classes
The Rochester City School District is proud to relaunch its digital citizenship classes for the 2018 – 2019 school year.
Students from Mr. Tata’s 5th grade class at Pinnacle School No. 35 spent part of their day Tuesday, November 27th at the District’s Central Office to learn more about the classes.
Students are using a modern learning space to learn about ways to be safe online. Students play games at different stations and learn about privacy and security. They also tour a studio in the RCSD’s Communications Department where they film a video about online safety.
Students learn never to post personal information online and students are taught to be careful.
Annmarie Lehner, the District’s Chief Information Officer said, “there are people out there looking to do harm to people and young kids. Our students need to understand what is and is not appropriate and safe behavior in the online world.”
The District started this program last year with students from a number of different grade levels. This year the classes are available to all 5th graders.
