World of Inquiry Griffins Make History with First-Ever Boys Basketball Sectional Title
(March 10, 2025) The Rochester City School District is celebrating a monumental achievement for World of Inquiry School No. 58, as the Griffins boys basketball team clinched its first-ever sectional championship. In a thrilling matchup at the Blue Cross Arena on Saturday morning, March 8, the team secured a hard-fought 62-53 victory over Waterloo to claim the Section V Class B1 title.
The Griffins’ historic win advances them to the Class B Far West Regional Qualifier, where they will face East Rochester on Tuesday.
Leading the charge for World of Inquiry was Kanaz Linder, who posted a team-high 18 points, while Jaedon Adams-Griffin contributed 16 points. Adams-Griffin, who earlier this season surpassed the 1,000-point milestone in his career, remained a key offensive force in the championship game.
Head Coach Willie Mason, who was recently named Section V's Class B1 Coach of the Year, guided the team to this historic moment. Mason, the lead school safety officer at Andrew Langston Middle School, is deeply involved in RCSD athletics. He coaches boys volleyball at School of the Arts and is an assistant baseball coach at Padilla High School at the Franklin Campus.
This victory marks a new chapter for the Griffins, showcasing their hard work, determination, and resilience. The RCSD community is proud of the World of Inquiry players and coaches and will cheer them on as they continue their postseason journey.
