Joseph C. Wilson Magnet High School Commencement Academy English Teacher Receives Golden Apple Award
(September 25, 2024) The Rochester City School District would like to congratulate Valerie Christofaro, an English teacher at Joseph C. Wilson Magnet High School Commencement Academy, for being the recipient of a Golden Apple Award from News 8.
Ms. Christofaro, in her 30th year of teaching, was nominated for the award by a former student. Arianna King is a sophomore at Buffalo State University, where she is studying to be a teacher.
“I decided to nominate Ms. Christofaro for this award because she is an amazing teacher,” said King. “She goes above and beyond for every student no matter what background, and she always looks out for students. She is funny; she always makes everybody laugh, and she is a great advocate for students.”
“Ms. Christofaro is an ideal teacher,” said Principal Gary Reynolds. “She shows up every day and brings her A game; Kids want to be in her class; they love her, and she does a fantastic job engaging all of her students.”
“I love kids; it is an amazing feeling to be connected to kids who are in my past. Arianna is a student I had two years ago, and we have become close. We have stayed connected and speak almost every day.”
Please join the District in congratulating Ms. Christofaro on this well-deserved honor.
