About the Department of Science

The Department of Science is a division of the Office of Teaching & Learning for the Rochester City School District. The vision of the Department of Science is to establish the highest quality science program that will educate students to become scientifically literate citizens for the 21st Century. The department will continually focus on supporting students through effective teaching engagement that positively impacts learning and achievement in a standards-based system.
The Science Department articulates and integrates systems to provide standards-based curricula, materials and supplies, and professional learning opportunities to each classroom to promote a culture of inquiry and problem solving. The RISE System is an integral part of the Rochester City School Science department that provides materials for the classrooms.
