2023-2028 Board Goals

  • The Rochester Board of Education bears the responsibility of establishing goals and evaluating progress toward the achievement of the District's long- and short-term goals, ensuring that policies and resources effectively support the District’s vision.

    Per Board Policy 2000, the Rochester Board of Education approved four goals and metrics for years 2023 through 2028. These goals were adopted by the Board of Education on January 16, 2024 and can be viewed in the Board Policy manual as Exhibit 2000-E1. 

    1. Increase the percentage of students in grades 3-8 who are proficient on the NYS ELA assessment from 16% in September 2023 to 40% in June 2028.
    2. All students reading by third grade – Increase the percentage of students proficient on the 3rd grade NYS ELA from 15% in September 2023 to 50% in June 2028.
    3. Increase the percentage of students in grades 3-8 who are proficient on the NYS Math assessment from 14% in September 2023 to 40% by June 2028.
    4. Increase the number of students earning 5 or more credits in 9th grade from 70% in September 2023 to 90% by June 2028.
