(November 20, 2023) The Rochester City School District congratulates the East Eagles and Monroe Red Jackets football teams for being winners in this past weekend’s far west regional finals for Class A and Class B. Both games were played at Williamsville South High School in Buffalo.
On Friday, November 17, East/World of Inquiry defeated Clarence 42 – 7 in the Class A far west regional final. East/World of Inquiry (12 – 0) forced seven turnovers, and Zymier Jackson threw for two touchdowns and scored another. This is East/World of Inquiry’s first regional championship in 27 years.
On Saturday, November 18, Monroe defeated Health Sciences/Buffalo Academy of Science 14 – 6 in the Class B far west regional final. Amari Colon and Tahjmir Mullins each scored touchdowns for Monroe (12 – 0). This is Monroe’s first regional championship in team history.
East/World of Inquiry will play Section III champion Whitesboro in the Class A state semifinals on Friday, November 24, at 6 p.m. Monroe will play Section IV champion Maine-Endwell in the Class B state semifinals on Saturday, November 25, at 3 p.m.
