Thanksgiving Food Basket Giveaway at Edison Career and Technology High School

(November 17, 2023) Students, staff, alumni, and the community at Edison Career and Technology High School are spreading holiday cheer by giving back to families in its community.

In a heartwarming display of generosity, alumni from the Class of ’69 were at the Edison campus on Friday morning to package up food that will be delivered to families in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.  This annual tradition grows every year, and this year, it aims to make an even greater impact.

“We care and we want our families to be happy,” said Bridgitte Griffin, Edison’s Community School Site Coordinator.  “Everyone deserves to have an excellent Thanksgiving and we want to make sure our families and students have a basket to enjoy.”

“This is a wonderful feeling,” said Joe Giunta, a class of ’69 graduate from Edison who volunteered his time on Friday to package up food for families.  “This school gave us so much, and now we’re giving back.”

Funds were collected by community partners to purchase essential food items for distribution to families.  Last year, these efforts touched the lives of more than 180 families, ensuring they had a meal for Thanksgiving.  This year, the food basket giveaway is anticipated to have an even more significant impact, as it aims to help an additional 50 families.
