2nd Annual College and Career Fair and National Apprenticeship Week Celebration at Edison Career and Technology High School
(November 16, 2022) Edison Career and Technology High School hosted its second annual College and Career Fair on Tuesday, November 15, 2022.
This was an opportunity for area colleges, business professionals, government, and community partners to share information with students and families as they make decisions about future plans. Students and families were able to talk about job openings with potential employers, meet with college representatives, and network with community members.
“This event was open to everyone in the community,” said Chennita Gartrell, an RCSD counselor, and college and career fair coordinator. “We want families to be able to learn more about training programs, receive financial aid information, and get connected to service providers so they can explore viable options when considering higher education and career choices.”
Twenty-two colleges and 30 community partners/employers provided information to students and families.
In conjunction with the school’s college and career fair, Edison also celebrated National Apprenticeship Week with industry, labor, workforce, and government leaders. National Apprenticeship Week is an opportunity to highlight how registered apprenticeship provides a critical talent pipeline that can help address some of the nation’s pressing workforce challenges. Rochester is home to many apprenticeship programs, and through Edison’s CTE pathways, students can enter employment and work-based learning programs.
