Students and Families Snuggle Up and Read at Dr. Charles T. Lunsford School No. 19
(November 15, 2022) The Rochester City School District would like to thank Advantage Federal Credit Union for helping students and families celebrate National Family Literacy Month.
On Thursday, November 10, Advantage Federal Credit Union representatives provided blankets and tote bags for students at Dr. Charles T. Lunsford School No. 19 as part of Snuggle Up and Read, an activity designed to promote the importance of reading!
“It is important for students to have access to books at school and home,” said Laquanda Fields, Librarian at School No. 19. “Reading is essential to learning and ensuring that our students have the greatest chance of achieving academic success. With the books donated, our students can build their home libraries because reading should not end with the school day.”
The school was open from 5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. for students and their families to read some of their favorite stories. Advantage Federal Credit Union is sponsoring a month-long book drive at all seven branches to promote National Family Literacy Month. New or gently used books are being collected for students in all grade levels at School No. 19. Collection bins are located at all Advantage Federal Credit Union branches.
