Summer of Discovery: Highlighting RCSD Staff
(August 4, 2022) To celebrate the RCSD’s Summer of Discovery, the District is highlighting staff members who support our summer learning programming.
Ms. Elizabeth Cross is the summer school principal for ROC Summer Arts at Anna Murray-Douglass Academy School No. 12. An Assistant Principal at Dr. Charles T. Lunsford School No. 19, Ms. Cross is overseeing 350 students enrolled in a program that engages students in accelerated learning through multiple experiences in music, dance, visual and digital arts.
“ROC Summer Arts has given me the opportunity to work with students and staff from many schools across the District,” said Cross. “I have been able to continue my work around the importance of arts in education and how it supports students’ engagement, social-emotional well-being, and achievement in school.”
Ms. Cross has spent her entire career in the Rochester City School District. She started as a 1:1 paraprofessional at then Chester Dewey School No. 14, and she later became a classroom teacher at Virgil I. Grissom School No. 7 in 2005. Since then, she has been an intervention teacher and an instructional coach at The Children’s School of Rochester No. 15, Dr. Charles T. Lunsford School No. 19, and Adlai E. Stevenson School No. 29.
Please join us in applauding Ms. Cross for her efforts to help RCSD scholars succeed!
