Free Mobile Hotspots Available for All RCSD Students
(July 12, 2021) All Rochester City School District students are now eligible for a free AT&T hotspot with 50GB of data per month. This is an excellent opportunity for students to stay connected between now and the beginning of the school year in September to take advantage of summer learning opportunities across the City of Rochester.
Additionally, these free hot spots will be available between now and June 2022. This will allow students free internet access anywhere they go, using whatever mode of transportation, on any device. To request a hot spot, please visit www.rcsdk12.org/wifi.
Families can turn in their previous 10GB Coolpad Mifi for a new 50GB AT&T hotspot. The hotspot will be shipped to a student’s home school, and families will be notified when it arrives in order to arrange for pickup. If multiple hotspots are requested for students in one household, all will be delivered to the homeschool designated on a sign up form.
The RCSD will begin the next school year, in-person five days a week, on September 8, 2021. Chief Technology Officer Glen VanDerwater said, “Accessibility varies for students throughout the City of Rochester, the goal behind 50GB of data per month is to ensure that 100 percent of our students have the opportunity to have constant, reliable internet every day.”
