Superintendent Terry J. Dade Names Sheelarani Webster Interim Chief of Schools
The Rochester City School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Sheelarani Webster as Interim Chief of Schools. She replaces Toyia Wilson, who is leaving the District to pursue a new career opportunity. Ms. Webster will serve in this role beginning September 12, 2019 as the District undergoes the search process for a permanent Chief of Schools.
A lifelong educator with more than 25 years of education experience, Sheelarani Webster has served Rochester children as a teacher at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. School No. 9, Dr. Louis A. Cerulli School No. 34, and World of Inquiry, where she became Principal in 2010 when the school began its grow-out to a K-12 building. Ms. Webster was the first-ever urban K-12 Principal to receive the 2017 New York State K-12 Building Principal of the Year award by the School Administrators Association of New York State (SAANYS).
As a former Principal, Ms. Webster understands the needs of building leaders and is committed to supporting their development as they strive for continuous improvement. Please join me in congratulating her on this interim assignment and wishing Toyia Wilson well in her future endeavors.
