(July 10, 2019) To help celebrate National Summer Learning Week, 200 students from the Rochester City School District started a 2-day summer program this morning at Virgil I. Grissom School No. 7.

Twenty-Eight employees from Best Buy are serving as instructors for the “Geek Squad” Academy.  Students are in seven different classrooms participating in the two-day technology camp aimed at getting them involved with technology and content creation.

Students have the opportunity to learn about 3D design, robotics programming, video, music, and photographic production, along with learning how to be good digital citizens.

Research shows that students who participate in summer learning programs perform better during the school year.  The Rochester City School District has been nationally recognized for strong summer programs, and they are free.

This is the 1st year the City School District is collaborating with Best Buy to bring the “Geek Squad" Academy to Rochester.
