Three RCSD Students Selected for Monroe County Sheriff's Office Teen Police Academy

Teen Police Academy

(July 9, 2019) Three students from the Rochester City School District are participating in a teen police academy this week hosted by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.  Santosh Lamgade, Mariana Webster-Hubbard, and Nymere Young are representing their schools as part of this countywide program.  Santosh is a student at Edison Career and Technology High School, Mariana is a student at World of Inquiry School No. 58, and Nymere is a student at Leadership Academy for Young Men.

These students are excellent representatives of the Rochester City School District.  They were chosen for this academy based on their academics and character.  Students chosen from across the county spend a week at the Public Safety Training Facility learning all about what it takes to become a police officer.

They participate in physical training; classroom instruction, team-building exercises, and they are given demonstrations from each of the Office’s specialized units: K-9, Bomb Squad, S.W.A.T., Scuba, and Hostage Recovery.

Students will conclude their participation in the “academy” on Friday with a “graduation” ceremony attended by family members, friends, and representatives from the command staff of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

The Rochester City School District thanks the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office for selecting these students to be part of this program and for highlighting the exceptional leadership within the District.  This is an example of collaboration and involving all stakeholders to help move the District forward.
