RCSD To Celebrate National Family Engagement Day
The Rochester City School District is proud to celebrate National Family Engagement Day on Saturday, November 17, 2018. The event will be held from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the newly renovated James Monroe High School, 164 Alexander Street.
National Family Engagement Day provides a yearly opportunity for schools and families to honor and highlight the powerful contributions parents and caregivers provide at school and home to support student success.
Superintendent Barbara Deane-Williams expressed gratitude and said, “We are thankful that parents and caregivers are our partners in education, and celebrate the many ways in which they strengthen the school community. The abundance of knowledge and talents that they bring to schools and children are immeasurable, and we appreciate all they do.”
Deputy Superintendent of Teaching and Learning Dr. Cecilia Griffin Golden and other representatives from the RCSD will be leading a discussion on what parents need to know about the NYS Next Generation Learning Standards.
The Rochester City School District’s Office of Parent Engagement is hosting the event where families will enjoy a continental breakfast and meet with community agencies and RCSD departments. The event is free to attend. Families are encouraged to register via Eventbrite at www.rcsdparents.eventbrite.com where they can also find registration for workshops and events.
