Monroe High School’s College and Career Fair Helps Students Plan for Life After Graduation

(March 20, 2025) Monroe High School's third annual College and Career Fair, held today, allowed students to explore job opportunities after high school. The future after graduation is not always easy, so the school created a pathway for students to connect directly with business professionals and community organizations dedicated to helping them take their next steps.

"It is important for students to have an opportunity to see the different careers available to them, understand the purpose behind their education, and make informed choices about their futures," said Jacqueline McClaney, a Career and Technical Education teacher at Monroe and the organizer behind the college and career fair.

The fair featured diverse participants, including representatives from Monroe County, the City of Rochester, local realtors, and professionals from manufacturing and the military.  The Board of Elections was also on hand, ensuring students understood how to register and vote, reinforcing the value of civic engagement as they enter adulthood.

“For now, I know I want to play college basketball, but beyond that, I am still figuring things out,” said Cameron Miller, a senior at Monroe High School.  “I want a stable career, and HVAC interests me.  This event is a blessing.  Some people do not get opportunities like this, and many students do not even know where to start after high school.”

With access to real-world guidance and career-building connections, Monroe students left the fair with new insights, fresh ideas, and a clearer vision for what comes next.  For many, today’s event was the first step toward activating dreams and unlocking potential.
