About Project SEARCH

Project SEARCH Overview
Project SEARCH is a one-year, internship-based program that combines classroom instruction with meaningful work experiences. The program is designed to teach interns the employment and life skills needed to obtain and maintain competitive, integrated employment. Project SEARCH operates at sites around the world and is recognized for its success in helping young adults with disabilities transition into the workforce.
Interns in the Project SEARCH program are between the ages of 18 and 21. Each intern must complete an application and interview process to be considered for acceptance into the program. During the year, interns complete three ten-week internships at different worksites, gaining experience in a variety of roles. Interns are typically at their internship sites from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Throughout the program, interns receive ongoing support from a team that includes a Project SEARCH instructor, a teacher’s assistant, and a job coach from the Job Path agency. Together, they work closely with each intern and their worksite supervisor to ensure success and growth in each placement.
