About Project SEARCH
-
Project SEARCH is a one-year, internship-based program. Project SEARCH combines classroom instruction with meaningful internship experiences to teach interns the employment skills they need to get a job and keep a job. The goal of the program is for students with disabilities to learn transferable work skills that will lead to competitive integrated employment. Project SEARCH is a program that can be found around the world.
The interns in the Project SEARCH program are between the ages of 18 and 21 years old. Each intern is required to apply and interview as part of the process to join Project SEARCH. Each intern has 3 ten-week internships at three different internship sites. The interns are at their internship site from around 9 am - 1:15pm. Throughout their internship, the interns have a job coach who works with them and their supervisor to ensure success! There are 3 job coaches that work with the Project SEARCH program. The job coaches are the Project SEARCH instructor, the teacher's assistant and a job coach from the Job Path agency.
