• Teachers of Tomorrow

  • The Teachers of Tomorrow grant is a New York State Education program that was established to assist school districts in the recruitment, retention, and certification activities necessary to increase the supply of qualified teachers in school districts experiencing a teacher shortage.

    As an awardee of this program, The Rochester City School District (RCSD) provides a $3,400 teacher recruitment incentive to all eligible teachers who teach in shortage subject areas within the District. This incentive is intended to help reimburse these teachers for the educational expenses they may have incurred while earning their NYS teacher certification. To receive this incentive, teachers must meet the following criteria:

    • Are employed for the first time in the RCSD;
    • Hold initial, transitional, permanent, or professional certification to teach in NYS; and
    • Teach in the current RCSD-designated subject shortage area for the full school year as follows: Bilingual Education, CTE, ESOL, Math, Science, Secondary Special Education or World Languages.

    Payment of this (TOT) Teacher Recruitment Incentive is renewable for three (3) additional years, for a total of four (4) years dependent on continued teacher eligibility.
