NYS Common Core Curriculum 7th Grade Writing Rubrics
Short-Response Rubric Short response questions will ask students to make a claim, take a position, or draw a conclusion and then support it with details. The 2 point rubric focuses on both the inference and evidence a student provides. Additionally, the expectation for all short responses will be complete, coherent sentences.
Extended-Response (Essay) Rubric: Extended response question ask students to analyze texts and address meaningful questions using strategic, textual details. Scores are based on four criteria: content and analysis, command of evidence, coherence, organization and style, & control of conventions.
