Latino students comprise a rapidly growing and diverse segment of the student population of the Rochester City School District, including recent immigrants from Central America and the Caribbean and children of families who have lived in this community for generations. The unique strengths and challenges facing each of these groups has to be understood in order to identify effective approaches to enable these students to succeed. At the same time, Latino students add to the rich multicultural environment of our schools, fostering an understanding of the diversity in our world.
