The Rochester City School District Transportation Department contributes to student achievement by ensuring that our students have a safe and reliable means of getting to and from school and school related activities on a daily basis.

We employ highly trained professional and dedicated bus drivers, bus monitors, maintenance mechanics, and office staff.  Our contractor partners are First Student, Regional Transit Service (RGRTA), Monroe School Transportation, and Durham Transportation (A&E) to fulfill the obligation of transporting approximately 28,000 children daily.

The Rochester City School District transportation policy is set by our Board of Education.  The New York State Education Department requires school districts to provide transportation to elementary school children who live more than two (2) miles from the school they attend and secondary school children who live more than three (3) miles from the school they attend.  Our Board of Education has shortened the distance to more than one and one-half (1.5) miles from the school attended for all grades as allowed by the New York State Education Department.

During the school year the Transportation Department is open from 6:30 am -
6:30 pm.  Summer hours are 7:00 am - 4:00 pm.  Our phone number is (585)
336-4000 and any of our District representatives is able to assist you with any questions or concerns.
