    Technique

Executes all required steps with precision and control; maintains balance (e.g., arabesque) for 2+ counts without traveling; alignment consistently correct.

Executes steps with mostly correct alignment and control; occasional balance errors that do not interrupt sequence.

Demonstrates basic knowledge of steps; alignment or control inconsistent; balance held briefly but unsteady.

Struggles to complete core steps; alignment frequently incorrect; balance rarely maintained.

Unable to execute required technical exercises with recognizable form.

    Performance Quality

Sustains movement with consistent energy and clear expressive gestures; maintains audience connection (eye line, projection) throughout performance.

Expressive in most movements; maintains clear focus and intentional projection for the majority of performance.

Shows expression in parts of the performance but not sustained; focus or projection inconsistent.

Limited expression; focus shifts often; little projection beyond executing steps.

No expression; movements flat; focus absent; no projection to audience.

    Movement Quality

Movements show fluid transitions, varied dynamics (fast/slow, strong/soft), and consistent spatial awareness (use of levels, pathways, stage space).

Movements include some variety in dynamics and effective use of space most of the time.

Movements performed correctly in sequence but with little variation in dynamics; space used only functionally.

Movements appear stiff, uneven, or lack control; spatial awareness inconsistent.

Unable to reproduce movement sequences as taught; no spatial control.

    Focus & Discipline

Always enters on cue; immediately follows directions without reminders; maintains correct eye line; resets stance independently; no side-talk.

Enters on cue; follows directions with only 1 reminder; maintains eye line with rare lapses; no side-talk.

1–2 late entries or reminders needed; occasional side-talk; eye line maintained inconsistently.

3+ reminders needed; repeated side-talk; often inattentive during others’ turns.

Missed or refused directions; disruptive behavior that prevents rehearsal or performance.

    Attitude / Work Habits

Actively seeks corrections and applies them immediately; consistently prepared with required attire; encourages or assists peers.

Accepts corrections and applies them with minimal delay; prepared with attire; cooperative with peers.

Accepts feedback but does not consistently apply corrections; occasionally unprepared with attire.

Rarely applies feedback; frequently unprepared; limited cooperation with peers.

Refuses feedback or correction; unprepared; uncooperative with peers.
