Prevention Counseling
This is an Oasis funded program in middle and high schools. They use evidence-based programs and strategies to work with youth. Their role is to work to decrease negative social, economic, health, and educational consequences and costs associated with substance abuse and problem gambling. Counselor(s) are also there to aid in crisis intervention and de-escalation services.
Help Zone
This space is designed to help students with problem-solving and get them back into the classroom. The Social Learning Specialists assigned to Help Zone are there for immediate crisis response, delivering curricula, as well as working with groups focused on Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS). These interventions are intended to last 5–30 minutes. Students then return to class when they are deescalated and ready to return.
