Akua D. Kankam serves as one of the Upper School Vice-Principals at East. Her passion is instilling unbreakable confidence in her Scholars and encouraging them to challenge obstacles that may stand in the way of their personal and professional goals. She is most proud of the genuine relationships she has maintained with Scholars and families throughout her 28-year career. Ms. Kankam has a B.S. in Psychology and a M.S. in School Counseling from the University of Rochester as well as an M.S. in Educational Leadership from St. John Fisher College. Ms. Kankam began her career as a School Counselor at Thomas Jefferson Middle School before moving into a leadership capacity for 19 years. She has served as a House Administrator at Charlotte High School and Thomas Jefferson Middle School; Assistant Principal at Rochester Early College International High School and now as a proud Vice-Principal at East!
