2.      Teacher or other adult will Describe the word to the student.

3.      Student suggests examples of the word and records a number ofexamples.

4.       Student provides non-examples of the concept and records of numberof non-examples.

5.          Finally, student writes a definition of the word.

Word Card Activities

1.             Sort the word cards bycategory.  (e.g., words related topeople, words related to things).

2.             Find words that have certainconnotations such as positive and negative, good and bad, desirable andundesirable.

3.             Sort words by part of speech(e.g., nouns, verbs, adverbs, adjectives).

4.             Make sentences using pairsof words.
