Welcome to my teacher webpage. The purpose of this page is for you to learn a bit more about me as your child's teacher. I hope the following information provides that for you, but you are always welcome to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have throughout the school year.
Professionally, I am lucky enough to be beginning my 21st year at East High School, and I am located in room D119 this year. I began teaching here in the Fall of 2001. Since that time, I have taught English classes at all grade levels between 8-12. (I am certified by NYS to teach English Language Arts to grades 7-12.) I have a Masters degree in Secondary Education from Roberts Wesleyan College. I also have two Bachelor's degrees, one in English and one in Spanish, from SUNY Oswego. I have been a full time, classroom teacher for most of my years at East High. I have also served as a Positive Behavior Support Coach & Coordinator during the 2010-2011 school year and for two other years I served as an Instructional Coach for the Health, Human and Public Services small learning community for half my time each day. I have served on many school committees, ran student clubs, and have been elected and selected by my peers and supervisors to certain committees and leadership roles. I have had high, positive and successful reviews overall by my supervisors, parents and students for all twenty past years of service at East. I have also kept abreast of the latest educational research and accepted best practices in teaching by engaging in professional development offerings each year.

In my personal life, I am a wife and a mother. I have teen daughters (13 and 16) and a husband of twenty years. I love pets, so we additionally have two dogs and a cat. I live in the town of Greece. I grew up in the town of Chili. My family's cultural background is mainly of Italian descent. My mother was born in Scicily, Italy and came to the US as an immigrant at nine years of age. She struggled to learn English and catch up to the appropriate grade level upon her arrival in the states. So, I grew up knowing and speaking two languages. This is one reason why I pursued languages during my educational studies in college. I spend my time outside of school running my children to their extracurricular activities much of the time. I also like to garden, read, and cook.

I love teaching! I enjoy high school aged students. I look forward to spending my time with your child each day and helping them to achieve success in our English II class, as well as, school in general. I very much believe that support from home is essential for students to make the greatest strides academically, so I look forward to partnering with you throughout the year.
Keep in touch and let me know what I can do to make your experience at East High School positive and successful.
