• Marking Period 1 Grade Breakdown
     
    Scholars will be assessed in multiple ways that compliment their reading and writing goals for the year! 
     
    30% Rules, Procedures & Expectations of Workshop- Scholars will be assessed on respecting the nature and creativity of the class. Each scholar is responsible for all of their materials (Sourcebook, chromebook and independent reading book). Each scholar has crafted their own sourcebook and all of our lessons revolve around the organization and use of it. Each scholar is also responsible for checking out an independent reading book to read in class and on their own time. All scholars are responsible for bringing their independent reading book to class each time we meet so they can read in class as well.
     
    30% 2 Published Book Reviews-  Scholars are responsible for being tenacious and reading their independent reading book in class and on their own time. Scholars will be reviewing their book twice a marking period (every 5 weeks). In order to write a great book review, scholars have set a goal of reading at least 2 books per marking period. 
     
     
     30% 3 Published Poems- Scholars are working with the genre of poetry for the 1st marking period. Our lessons revolve around the creativity and craft of all types of poetry. Scholars will create and publish their own poems during the 1st marking period. 
     
    10% Self Evaluation- Through a Scholar-teacher conference, scholars will evaluate and assess their progress, tenacity and accomplishments during the marking period.
