NY State Alternate Assessment Level 1 (K-6)
Learners at Level 1 require maximum support for all instructional tasks. The goal is to increase the level of participation. These learners may not make consistent choices. They may not speak or be able to move on their own. We want to help them listen, look and make choices as best as they can.

Learners at Level 2 require some support for all or many instructional tasks. These learners can make consistent choices and are ready for beginning reading, writing and math. They may use a communication device. We want them to work on reading, writing and math as best as they can.

NY State Alternate Assessment Level 3 (K-6)
Learners at Level 3 are learning to read text, producing simple writing, and even performing basic math. They may need some support but are learning to do their work independently. Some of these students need a communication device and there is a spelling page with word families on it that your child can use during writing and spelling practice.
