The Rochester City School District’s Special Education Department is expanding inclusive options for students with disabilities in the 2019-2020 school year. Integrated Co-Teaching will now be a programmatic option for grades K-12! Integrated co-teaching services, as defined in regulation, means the provision of specially designed instruction and academic instruction provided to a group of students with disabilities and nondisabled students in a general education classroom.
The District will continue to offer a full continuum of special education services to meet individual student needs, which include consultant teacher services (direct and/or indirect); resource room services; related services; integrated co-teaching services; and an array of special class options (NYS' Continuum of Special Education Services for School-Age Students with Disabilities Updated November 2013).
