  • 3 kindergarten classes at Helen Barrett Montgomery School 50 on Seneca Ave. will be starting their school year right, with a little weight off their shoulders. Every kindergarten student—over 70 in total—will receive a colorful new backpack from their friends at Emerge. With over 80% of students eligible to receive a free lunch at Rochester City Schools, supplies can often be hard to come by.

“As a company, we are committed to empowering children to learn how to learn right” said Emerge CEO, Leo Linder. “We are excited about partnering with the Rochester City Schools to provide the leaders of tomorrow the tools they need for learning today.”

Supplies for the backpacks include dry erase markers, notebooks, markers, crayons, colored pencils, folders, pencil boxes, glue sticks, tissues, hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, white boards, watercolor sets, sentence strip packs, dry erasers, ear buds and mini books.

Employees at Emerge are engaged in giving to several charitable organizations, and have turned the efforts into company-wide competitions. The light-hearted challenges help to drive donations across all teams.

In addition to the Rochester City School impacted by the donation, Emerge employees donated more than 100 additional packs nationwide. Phoenix Emerge employees collected supplies for over a month.

Some backpacks, through the guidance of the United Way New York City, held a special importance on childhood literacy. All packs are being delivered prior to the start of the school year.
