The Technocrat & Chronicle is an extracurricular club that provides an opportunity for students to develop their speaking, listening, and writing skills in a setting that simulates the work of a news reporter. Students are assigned teachers and staff to interview by asking questions about school and classroom activities. Reporters take notes and use them to develop headlines and articles which they write and publish for the newspaper. Additionally, we follow a paced curriculum which introduces the students to the many facets of journalism.

Students apply their understanding of leads and the Inverted Pyramid writing style in order to write well-developed news stories using appropriate style and conventions based on research (New York Times/ Associated Press styles). Students explore the impact of social media on society and how it has changed the way we access news. Additionally, students continue to evaluate and write critiques of published news stories.
