• Welcome to English with Mr. Kester Here at Early College!

  • NKester Mr. Kester

Hello students and families!  Allow me to introduce myself.  My name is Nate Kester, and I'm one of the ELA teachers here at Rochester Early College International High School.  I've been proudly teaching in the Rochester City School District for 17 years, after attending SUNY Geneseo for my bachelor's in English and Nazareth for my Masters in teaching.  This is my tenth year here, having spent the previous seven years up the street at Wilson Magnet High School. I'm an avid reader, big into music, an amateur writer, and run 4-5 times a week.

I've taught every level of English here, but this semester, I'm teaching Creative Writing and Public Speaking. This is the first semester I've taught Creative Writing, and I couldn't be more excited about it.  I've been writing for over twenty years, and took a Creative Minor in college.  I'm really looking forward to helping my scholars realize the joys that can come with creative writing.

It's been two years since I've taught Public Speaking, and it's so nice to be doing it again.  Our scholars need the confidence and experience with speaking in front of people, and I'm glad I can help them with that.  The class puts an emphasis on individual student growth and less restrictive structure.  Both class' descriptions are below.

    Here's to a great year!
