Welcome Incoming 7th and 8th Graders,

In order to prepare for this upcoming year, here are a few recommendations from your teachers:

English:

Students should read at least 2 different novels of their choice. Recommendations include topics surrounding Civil Rights, The Great Depression, The Vietnam War, The Refugee Experience, and the Industrial Revolution.

These topics will give students some background knowledge for the units they’ll be studying during the school year.

Practice your CURSIVE!!

Social Studies:

7th- Read Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass

8th - Read The Boy Who Dared or The Boy in the Striped Pajamas

Math:

Review and practice single and double-digit addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Review and practice adding and subtracting fraction with unlike denominators, ordering fractions

Some ideas are:

Work with a younger sibling

Make your own flash cards

Science:

Practice your measuring skills & refresh your general science vocabulary.
