• Welcome to the Kindergarten Page!

Kindergarten is an exciting time for your child's literacy development. In the skill strand, students will focus on hearing individual sounds within words, breaking words into their individual sounds, and blending sounds into words. From there, students will learn sound spelling correspondences and begin to read three letter words.Tricky words are introduced to students toward the end of the school year.  Students will begin the year by learning writing strokes to prepare them for the demands of printing lower and upper case letters. The listening and learning domains are excellent opportunities for your child to hear stories read aloud to them while they build their content knowledge.
