Who qualifies for the Professional Learning Incentive?

The Professional Learning Incentive (PLI) is discussed in Section 59.4 of the RTA contract. Teachers are eligible based on the information below.

$1,200 PLI stipend - Must meet ALL of the following requirements:

• Career ladder: Professional or Lead
  • Note: this requires professional or permanent certification
• Tenure level: must have tenure
• Professional learning experience courses: must have 36 additional hours
• Employment: must be beyond first year

$800 PLI stipend - Must meet ALL of the following requirements:

• Career ladder: Resident
• Tenure level: tenure is not required
• Professional learning experience courses: must have 24 additional hours
• Employment: must be beyond first year

Intern Level Teachers

Intern level teachers DO NOT qualify for the professional learning incentive.
