    May 1st, 2020 Update:

    Governor Cuomo announced "Given the current situation, K-12 schools and college facilities will remain closed for the rest of the academic year and will continue to provide distance learning. This is the best course of action to keep students, educators and staff safe."

    Technology Access for Students:
    The following message is for families of current 3rd – 5th grade students. The Rochester City School District conducted a phone survey today to determine which families of our current 3rd – 5th grade students have access to a computer and the internet at home. Please understand the survey attached is for planning purposes only. If such devices become available, the District will notify the appropriate families. If you have not taken the survey, we encourage families of 3rd – 5th grade students to visit our website at for more information.

    Chromebook deployment for students in grades 6-12 began April 6. The District will provide a chromebook if needed to any students in grades 6-12 who has not yet received one this school year. Families will need to call the Support hotline at 262-8700 to request a chromebook and schedule a time to pick it up. Learn More

    Meals and Educational Resources

    The District will continue to support our students and families during this extended closure:

    Meal Distribution Sites - Beginning Monday, April 20, four additional school sites will be used for meal distribution – School No. 8, School No. 17, School No. 45, and the Douglass Campus. Please check the District’s webpage at for times and locations of the twelve school sites and nine City R-Centers.

    Quarter 3 Grading
     – Due to the shortened in-class instructional time, the following grading guidelines are in place for Quarter 3. All report cards will be mailed home the week of May 4, 2020. See the district website for more details

    Age and grade level appropriate educational resources are available on the District’s website at RCSD Learns, with additional resources and links to educational software on ROConnect. If you need any assistance, including support with student access to online educational resources, please follow the instructions on this Google Doc or contact the District’s support hotline at 262-8700.

    Weekly instructional materials for K – 8th-grade students are available online and packets of those materials will continue to be delivered to our food sites. Online instructional materials will continue to be available for our 9th-12th-grade students. 

    For children of first responders and health care workers, child care is available by contacting the YMCA of Greater Rochester.

    The District’s support hotline (262-8700) will remain open to assist students and families with questions or concerns.

    Free Internet and Wi-Fi

    Spectrum is offering free broadband and Wi-Fi access for 60 days to households with K-12 students and/or college students who do not already have a Spectrum broadband subscription at any service level up to 100 Mbps. To enroll call 1-844-488-8395. Installation fees will be waived for new student households. Regular rates will apply after the 60 day time period.
