Our diversity is our strength!PrincipalYajaira Nguyen436-2560Mrs. Nguyen joined us in November 2021 as principal of Enrico Fermi School #17. She has served the RCSD as a special education and bilingual special education teacher across K-6 grade levels, working at Mary McLeod Bethune School No. 45 and Abraham Lincoln School No. 22. She was a special education teacher and English Language Learning Instructional Coach at East High School and East Lower School. She served as a bilingual instructional coach, Expanded Learning Resource Coordinator, and testing liaison while on special assignments. She then moved into administration, working as a Coordinating Administrator for Special Education at Central Office. She was briefly a vice principal and educational coordinator at Eugenio Maria De Hostos Charter School. She returned to the District as a Coordinating Administrator of Special Education before earning the promotion to Assistant Principal at Abraham Lincoln School No. 22. At School No. 22, she led many initiatives to ensure both instructional and operational leadership. Her experience includes significant engagement with students and families, working closely to meet the needs of English Language Learners, ensuring bilingual education and special education needs are met. Throughout her career, she led significant professional development to ensure best practices and compliance. She also has significant experience monitoring and implementing school improvement plans. She is an RCSD, East High School TLI Program graduate.Mrs. Nguyen earned a bachelor’s degree in childhood and special education with a concentration in educational technology from St. John Fisher College and a professional extension in bilingual education from Nazareth College. She earned a master’s degree in childhood curriculum specialist and a certificate of advanced study in education administration from SUNY Brockport.
