John-Martin Cannon began his career in education as a teacher in the Rochester City School District. His first year in the RCSD, he was a building-substitute at Dr. Walter Cooper Academy, School #10. From there, he was hired full-time as a 6th grade teacher at School #10 and taught there from 2016 - 2018. John-Martin then joined the RISE community school team from 2018-2020 as a 6th grade teacher as well. The following year, John-Martin taught 5th grade at Vollmer Elementary school in the Rush-Henrietta Central School District. During the pandemic, John-Martin completed a Master of Science degree in administration at St. John Fisher. He was hired, shortly thereafter, at Batavia Middle School as an Assistant Principal in August 2021, and he served in that role until March 2023. 

 

John-Martin brings with him a dynamic passion that is centered around believing in & valuing the abilities of all students. John-Martin is committed to and has used restorative practices, culturally responsive practices, and social emotional practices in every school that he has had the opportunity to be a part of. 

 

In his free time, John-Martin loves to workout, read, and spend as much time as possible with his family.
