    Damaris Saltares

    Ms. Saltares was the Principal of Eugenio Maria de Hostos Charter School and was the school’s Assistant Principal prior. She returns to the District, where she previously served as our Director of Bilingual Education, providing instructional and curricular support and leadership for all bilingual education programs in RCSD schools. Ms. Saltares began her career as an elementary classroom teacher in Durham, North Carolina, before returning to Rochester, where she was a bilingual elementary classroom teacher at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. School No. 9. Rising into leadership, she was a Community School Site Coordinator at Monroe High School. With a multifaceted set of community leadership positions, Ms. Saltares knows well the needs of the School No. 17 community, and she is looking forward to engaging and learning from students, families, and staff.

    Ms. Saltares earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Inclusive Childhood and Middle Childhood Education from Nazareth College, a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix, an Advanced Certificate in Bilingual Education Extension from SUNY Brockport, and a Master’s Degree in School Leadership from the University of Rochester.
