• Sound of the Week

    Our classroom is part of the STEPS Program.  This is a speech and language program.  This means that every week we have a "sound of the week".  A paper will come home Monday - Thursday to practice these sounds.  This is also a support to our students reading success.

  • Reading

    Please read with your child for 20 minutes every evening.  Complete their reading log and look at the suggested questions given to open a discussion with your child to encourage a love of reading.

  • Math

    Math practice for 1st grade, along with homework, will consist of a 1 or 2 sided paper that reinforces the concept for that unit.

  • Spelling

    Each full school week your child will receive a spelling list to practice for a test on Friday.  This is done to encourage our students writing by helping them to spell words correctly.  The spelling tests are very nonthreatening and the teachers often encourage and support the students during tests, for a full credit score to build knowledge, comprehension, and self confidence.
