About Thurgood Marshall Middle School

  • Welcome to Thurgood Marshall Middle School, where we proudly honor the legacy of Thurgood Marshall, an iconic American civil rights lawyer and jurist. Serving as an Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court from 1967 to 1991, Marshall made history as the first African American justice on the Court. His unwavering commitment to justice and equality transformed our nation's legal landscape.

At Thurgood Marshall Middle School, we are inspired by his dedication to civil rights and his relentless pursuit of fairness, striving to instill these values in our students and fostering a learning environment where every individual is encouraged to achieve their fullest potential.

Middle School in the RCSD

  • Middle school is a time when students begin the transition to high school, with the opportunity to explore their individual talents and interests. RCSD middle schools are designed to prepare students for high school, both academically and emotionally. A focus on character development and leadership skills while fostering a sense of community will allow students to develop the skills and knowledge that prepare them for success in college and careers.

The curriculum is designed to spark curiosity and cultivate critical thinking skills, with courses that cover a wide range of subjects, including Career and Technical Education (CTE), humanities, arts, and more.

Beyond academics, students can choose from a variety of extracurricular activities that range from athletics and arts to community service projects. Field trips, guest speakers, and partnerships with local organizations provide unique opportunities for hands-on learning and exploration.
